A2R724 – Inert “It Depends EP” A-Squared Muzik – TECHNO/TECH-HOUSE
This looks like a good year for A-Squared Muzik and 2010 will be a good one for sure. Next on the decks is a good friend of ours "Inert" from the country of Bulgaria. He brings the heat with a huge acid rocker called "It Depends" remixed by Angel Alanis and Jason Patick. Both brought some nice minimal house and minimal techno business. Jake Childs was called into action and he delivered a hot techno stompin' remix. As an added bonus Inert threw in 2 amazing techno rockers "Chink A Jingle" and "Reikpeuk" to make this an not to be missed release... Make sure to look out for Inert's second EP on A2 "Proekt 36" with Monoman and Angel Alanis Remixes.

HEJ00D – Itzone “Muevete” People Mover Productions – TECHNO
Corbin Davis, a veteran DJ/Promoter who chiseled his mark throughout history in Detroit’s prominent techno scene, continues to do so by unleashing his amazing production skills. His track Time Shift is a collage of three dimensional sounds that swish through the depths of the audio canvas. Hypnotic synths grow and twist around the drums as they chug behind a solid bass kick and stretched out vocal trippiness. This one has the perfect balance of funk and drive.

Kero, Detroit Underground label guru, delivers a nasty electro-techy-experimental fusion entitled the Time Shit Remix. Saturated with dirty bass and electrified giltchy percussion, it warps your mind with stellar sound design while the ass end seriously makes your ass move.

John Overfiend drops a dark rework with droning segments of the original mesmerizing keyboards driven by a deep heavy bass. He uniquely contorts the time shift vocal with otherworldly effects while synths subtly weave together, evolving into a work of art.

Punisher (Detroit) strips it down with tiny fragments of the original keys and tones echoing over a thick rubbery bass line. Infused with shuffled tribal percussion, shakers and almost insect like micro flutters to create infectious movement.

ANM021 – Tony Senghore “If You Came Here…” Anonym – ELECTRO HOUSE
It is footloose, forward thinking and quite often a bit odd. Sprinkled with curiosity for exploring new ways to the purpose of making people shuffle their tired feet. Pugnacious, belligerent and slightly gung-ho with a definite taste for blood. What do we speak of you ask? Well it could only be the music of Tony Senghore. Tony has a diverse discography that counts up in the hundreds. It is colourful and full of contrasts. Never reluctant, always different. Out side of his own productions, remix treatment has been given to a wide range of artists like Bodyrox, Audiobullys, Lady Sovereign, Ladytron, Bent, Til West, Portobella, Syndicated People, John Dahlback, and many more.

IM042 – Tom Hades “Master of Deception” Impact Mechanics – TECHNO
Release number forty two for Impact Mechanics, this time featuring the talents of one of the most respected techno producers Tom Hades, fresh from his hot remix for Wehbba. Mastermind Tom Hades has produced on labels such as Drumcode, Hell Yeah, 8 Sided Dice. This EP brings us the "Original Mix" of the title cut; Krank a gritty, straight forward Techno mover and the "Master of deception," a more driving and upfront version. The real gem here however, Krank, is a mega bass, slow-rising minimal flavored tech house track with a massive bassline. Atmospheric and dark in all the right ways.

UNION018 – Magors “Do I Move You” Union Recordings – HOUSE
In this installment of the Union Recordings saga, we are bringing to you 2 brand new producers. Our first debut artist goes by the name of Magors and his track Do I Move You has got some major sound! Do you like monster sweeps and blues? Yes? Well, you're in luck with this one. Magors has blended the sweet sounds of flute, harmonica, and blues guitar on top of a tech house beat and a vocal that sets this track off just right. To get another spin on these sounds we've called on another Union new comer, Chris Robson, for the remix. Both tracks have got the bluesy house vibe that will keep the dance-floor moving into the wee hours of the morn. This isn't even the best part. Tommy Largo was such a hit with the last Union remix, we decided to call on his deep house talents one more time for this EP. If you are unfamiliar with this Tommy's talents, check out his production work on this remix. We keep the quality high and the volume even higher!

PP016 – Dee Green “Sequential” Prosthetic Pressings – TECHNO/MINIMAL
Here you have the latest single on Prosthetic Pressings. From Rome's own Dee Green we present Sequential.

Along with the original version, we have included a remix from Antonio Pocai who was Luca Bacchetti's former production partner on several of his biggest hits. Antonio is currently working with Alex Neri (owner of Tenax Recordings and founding member of Planet Funk and several other famed projects). Antonio has releases on Tenax, Wagon Repair, Richie Hawtin's Minus and several more projects which are in the works. Chicago's own Submerge 101, who's gaining heat every day with constant high praise from techno legends Dave Clarke and Chris Liebing, a new project for Luke Slater about to drop and a European tour which kicks off next month, rounds out the package with a hard hitting floor rumbler of a mix.

A2R723 – Thee-O & Merlyn Martin “Refugee” A-Squared – TECH-HOUSE
A Squared Muzik has been on hiatus for quite some time now. We have been busy with remixes and other things like beer drinking and pizza flinging. Thank you for waiting for us :-). Here is our next installment featuring Thee-O & Merlyn Martin with their very first release on Asquared Muzik entitled Refugee. There is lots to choose from in this package staring with A.Paul's beefy big room techno mix and Johan afterglow's minimal rework that will beat you down in the right way. Meanwhile, Angel Alanis comes up with a surprisingly deep tech house cut that is weird, trippy but fun. Adding to the mix, aKademy steps up with some amazingly smooth dubstep action. As for the other cuts, you will probably recognize a few of the other artists like B.Original with a tribal house remix, Kelly Wills & SKS (tech house), Dj Denise (electro house), and from one of my Favorites "House Of Stank" with some fidget electro action to seal the deal.

JEL045 – Ramon Tapia & BP “Water Melon” Jericho – TECHNO
Having cemented his position as one of the producers in 2008, with a string of genre-defining releases on many leading labels, including Great Stuff, Craft Music, Turbo Records and Yellow Tail, Ramon Tapia is hot property. Here Ramon teams up with production partner BP for this release on Jericho. Water Melon is a fine example of the fluid, groove-filled tech house that has won Tapia so many fans. Supplying ample inspiration for both the head and the feet, the haunting melodies that signature the track are partnered by shifting percussion and wobbly, effect-soaked noises to ensure a good melon twisting. Down At The Offkeys steps up the pace and the intensity, but retains the otherworldly vibe of the EP. Throbbing bass pulses under marching beats, while hissing whispers fade in and out of the buzzing synth loops, that usher in rising sirens to take over the breakdown. A high impact crowd-pleaser for dark rooms.

SPEC0907 – Ascion & D. Carbone “Shaved” Spectrum Recordings UK – TECHNO
Spectrum Recordings returns after the summer months with a fantastic deep dark two tracker to take us into those shorter nights of the year from Italian duo Ascion & Davide Carbone. The a side 'Shaved' is a stripped down dubby groover, with eerie vocal stabs and spacey edits. This has a seriously tripped out vibe, which is perfect for the after hours, but still with more then enough punch to work at peak time, with some layered percussion or effects. The flip side 'Spectral Town' is a minimal funky track, superbly produced and once again perfect for the after hours. A very cool and classy record from a label stamping its mark on the scene, and still only in its first year of releasing music. Look out for future releases from Ramon Tapia, Gui Boratto and Alan Fitzpatrick... Big things to come!

Pre-Release: 9/29/2009
General Release: 10/20/2009

DFD019 – Jonra “Telephone Man EP” DesignForms – TECHNO/DEEP HOUSE
Revolution ( deep house)
What do we love most about black licorice pizza? Why, all the different toppings, of course! And for this slice, selector and sequencor extraordinairre Jonra Babi- (racki if you're nasty) takes it down a notch and reminds us that, as much as we love to dance, we must chill. This is the one you always put on after the club, the voice of calm after a chaotic day, or on homemade compilations so your friends can hear how deep you like to go.

Dr Filth vs Octomom (techno)
Upon examination, Dr. Filth vs. Octomom is one serious psych session. For this track, Freud is disregarded and lithium is no cure for the clinically-insane bassline, industrial clangs, and twisting noise effects brought forth from deep in the chaos of Jonra Babiracki's noggin.

Faith (techno)
Techno magnus Jonra Babiracki shows us his spiritual side on Faith. That is, like the name implies, he is keeping the faith by sticking true to the sick old days (with a twist, of course). This track stomps, clicks, wobbles and slithers down a bass-lined O.G.techno tunnel. You'll find yourself wondering what event will you be at when called upon to dance to this track? It's a question of faith.

Feedback:
Orde Meikle (Slam/Soma) - hard as nails - end of night madness

DIFD038 – Zarbeat “Fantasmoso” Difusion – MINIMAL
Like the old good times back when difusion was just starting this is original track made by Zarbeat that after passing it over to the Difusion original members crew became a remixed EP. Three very talented mexican artists instantly became part of this project. The original track was composed by Zarbeat and it was influenced by pure 8 bit synths and gated kicks. Track number two was remixed by Difusion's very own Gusgo. This version of the track is the interpretation of this very talented artist showing his very complex beat programing and manipulation of virtual instruments driving the track into the dark alley of minimal techno. Track number three remixed by Maxson is completly full of 4x4 loops using his production skills he remastered each sample to achive maximum control over the track. A very bouncy track is the final product. Track number four was remixed by one of the most requested artis in mexico, Edgar Medina aka Transistor. His resulting mix is a very organic and spaced out track having new elements incorporated in to the 8 bit crazyness.

NS010 – Udachi & Jubilee “Paypur” Nightshifters – ELECTRO HOUSE
We are so proud to present our next Ep, this time a collaborative effort between two of New York Cities Hottest DJ/producers Udachi and Jubilee! A beast of an Ep, Paypur features two incredible original tracks by the duo and five stunning remixes, and seeing how the tracks are already being played by AC Slater, Fake Blood, and Tommy Sunshine (to name a few), we think we have one of THE releases of the summer!

An original old-school Florida raver, Jubilee has been tearing up Dj sets across the USA this year on two coast-to-coast tours, and co-hosts the Brooklyn monthly Flashing Lights party with Nick Catchdubs and Dj Ayres. Anyone who has seen her play can attest to her skills and deep understanding of how to launch a party into a frenzy. Similarly, Udachi builds on his old-school rave past as a producer and DJ, and has made a big splash this year with his solo productions and remixes for Audio Bullys, AC Slater, and M83.

And while the two original tracks featured here are both quite simply amazing, the remixes are equally incredible. Nick Catchdubs enlists hot-as-fuck lyricist Daytona to re-construct Paypur into a screwed dirty south style filled with swagger, Venezuela's Cardopusher pushes the bass to the maxx in his mosh-pit-dubstep remix of the same tune, while Thunderheist's Grahmzilla flips the vibe into an expansive techno affair ready for your next sunrise session. Breakbeat hardcore legend Luna-C turns Smoke Rings into a dub-bass filled rave anthem of the next level, and while a rave vibe can also be felt in DreSkull's incredible remix, he pushes up the Funky snares and adds a sinister breakdown that's sure to get shirts flung off the dance floor.

DGRS001 – FDK “Under Sol E.P.” DG Label – MINIMAL
The first release for the DG Label Reverse Series features FDK for all of the analogue deep minimal techno prowlers. FDK tunes bring the light and the most out of a rhythm. This duo's talents are on full display as they unleash modern sounds that do nothing but emote throughout their length while the beat pounds away in the background. This "Under Sol EP" provides just the right amount of atmosphere within it's sparse surroundings.

4TRK021 – DJ Hyperactive “Reptilian Tank Revisited” 4 Track Records – TECHNO
The story began on DJ Hyperactive's Chicago based label Contact in 1996. At the time the release only saw the light of day on vinyl but soon thereafter and 10,000 units sold the track that carried the EP, Reptilian Tank, gets it's first re-working on the Uppercut label run by Frankie Vega. The Original Noise Maker release didn't slow down the momentum the single track had and nearly 20 years later we're at it again giving you another pair of remixes from two of the busier techno producers in the US. Audio Injection settles into the smog induced control room and transports back in time and cracks the code of the 101 that did all the heavy lifting on the original and conjures up a different dialect of the original warping, lfo laiden, synth assault reminiscent of the original with a bit more effects and sinister kick. Submerge 101's mix comes out of the gate with a heavy swinging percussion ensemble to quickly turn the corner with a rolling synth line to keep the energy peaking. The arrangement builds on layers of original elements until the ugly beast rears it's head again after a decade of hibernating!

ANM020 – Tony Senghore “Fork / Knife” Anonyms – ELECTRO HOUSE

IM040 – Audio Injection “Interface Activated” Impact Mechanics – TECHNO
Audio Injection is making serious moves in 2009, and this newest original production shouldn't do anything but continue to build his reputation. Aside from the fact that I loved the last release "Cell Injection" Audio Injection provided Impact Mechanics with Three appealing tracks. A colossal, slice of driving techno, while "Ministax" is a similarly dance floor destroyer. "Freak the box" leads off the B Side with a strenuous, straight techno killer, featuring underlying beats, sinister bassline and wicked undertones. The EP wraps up with featured track "Interfaced Activated", a hard percussion affair, with a long tension building breakdown and ton of rugged flavor. Class material all around.

Born in Scotland in 1985, Andrew Bowen (Teef) was influenced by the early electronic sound of the UK which led him to start making music at the early age of 16 using a program called Acid Pro. He then cycled through many genres including Drum and Bass and IDM. Finally he settled on the sounds of techno, specifically the sound of Sweden and stripped down minimal. His music relies on soaring basslines and addictive and catchy melodies. Moreover, he is inspired by charting his own path. He delights in finding his own sounds and his own styles. Teef now resides in Ohio and has just made the move to Race Car Productions. His introduction is a new remix of Evan Scott's Onosphere set to release in late November; however, his first single entitled The Substitute is ready and being played by a select few to great review. We welcome Teef, our muse, to the label and expect him to forge new paths and keep everyone guessing.

GrooveSource Cycle 166

Pre-Release: 8/18/2009
General Release: 9/8/2009

A7014 – Aubrey “Aqua Warrior EP” A7 Records – TECHNO
A7 is the new label by long time player in the Techno world Aubrey of the UK label Solid Groove Records. With over 20 years making underground music on his own, four vinyl labels Solid Groove, Textures, Dark, and Super Disco Fakes he has clocked up over 75 vinyl releases.

A7, was set up to re-release Aubrey's older unreleased material, but this release is a groundbreaking 4 tracker of new music! His first since 2003!!!

Aqua Warrior is a serious mix of Chicago and Detroit techno / house with touches of deep house and driving beats. African Song is a track in the style of Aubrey's deep house label Textures but with a fatter and more dubbed out style. Wanna Do That is a nervous, deep, pounding acid track for 2009. Play this at your own peril, with its deep bass and twisted sounds its on par with his classic track Marathon on Leftfield's Offshoot. Rounding out the package is Beat The Clock. This is a more upbeat track aimed at the underground dancefloor with heavy audio edits and acid lines, this will be sure to work in a lot of situations.

This ep is a refreshing mix of old school and new school recorded to the max quality. With Aubrey remixes coming up of Marky Star (feat Tyree Cooper) and a remix for Dimitri Pike (Wildtek Concept) on the desk, plus a vinyl reissue coming in November this year of his classic Dark 4 with remixes by Mike Parker (Geophone recs) and PendleCoven(Modern Love) this looks like a come back from a long overlooked artist.

SC002 – Aaron Chase “Touch” Supa Cutz – ELECTRO HOUSE
The second release on Charles Feelgood's label Supacutz Recordings features an original offering from Chicagos own Aaron Chase. Chase being a producer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist his talents definitely shine through with this release. Aaron describes his sound as "electronic industrial" and these influences really come though on "Touch". With dark, distorted vocals and dirty synth lines, Touch brings forth some serious attitude to the dancefloor.

The first remix is by Chicago based DJ/producer Brian Boncher aka "Breakdown B". Boncher drops some serious funk on the remix. With absolutely sick synth lines, chunky, jackin beats and dope edits on the vocal, this one will cause some serious damage on the dancefloor.

Next up is a remix by South African DJ/producer Raymond Mather. Remixing such acts as Defunct! and Kyle Watson not to mention releases on labels such as Destination?, Junky Trunk and Champion Beats, Mather has put out some serious fidget house tunage and this remix is no different. With jackin beats, dirty ass fidget basslines and some seriously insane breakdowns this one is a must for any fan of fidget.

Last up is a slammin remix by Los Angeles based DJ/producer Jayvon. This one is serious peak time gear. Bangin electro beats, funky samples and crazy edits give this remix an insane vibe that will create havoc in any peak time set.

Another diverse release from Charles Feelgood's label that showcases talent from the US and abroad. From pumpin electro to jackin techno house to fidget and back this release will appeal to djs across the board.

PP015 - Jimmy & Fer Ferrari “Let It Play”
Prosthetic Pressings - TECH-HOUSE
Prosthetic Pressings drops their 15th release and this time we've decided to change things up. Reaching out to Barcelona by way of Argentina we've enlisted the aid of DeepClass Records' head honchos Jimmy & Fer Ferrari who have provided us with some summer time vibes. DeepClass is a deep house label which has been on the scene for the last couple of years and has really been making their mark with Fer Ferrari making his first US appearance at the 2009 WMC to critical acclaim, a European tour set to launch later this summer as well as the brand new weekly DeepClass radio show on Ibiza Global Radio where Fer highlights everything deep and classy.

For this release Jimmy & Fer turned in a deep and techy track called Let It Play and along with the original we've secured a couple of remixes. First up the mighty Land Shark aka Lance Desardi has turned in a remix which is pure heat. He's added a few surpri
ses and created something extra special just for us. Rounding out the package is Barcelona's own Fernanda Diaz aka Rokit-F. Fernanda has gone in a completely different yet refreshingly unique direction with her Rockit Remix. All in all, this is the perfect package to kick your summer off in style.

MKD003 - South Union (aka Fabrice Lig & Jean Vanesse) “On Stage EP”
Melodika Recordings - TECHNO

Melodika Recordings returns with their 3rd release. This time up label head Fabrice Lig has decided to release one of his own projects and you know what that means...pure techno bliss!!! For this release Fabrice drops the On Stage EP which is from his South Union project which is a collaboration between the Soul Designer and Jean Vanesse of Spirit Catcher fame. In 1997, after many common gigs in Belgium, Fabrice & Jean decided to join their production forces to create a new techno project. They recorded a few tracks and signed with Local Records (a sub of Music-Man Records) for their first EP called "Funkanoid"...after a few months and 2 licenses in Germany, they sold more than 5000 copies. From their initial output they gained support from several DJs/producers like Laurent Garnier, Stacey Pullen, Kevin Saunderson etc. Fabrice & Jean have continued to develop their own solo projects like Soul Designer (F-Com) for Fabrice Lig (Kanzleramt/Raygun/Third Ear, Playhouse...) and Spirit Catcher & Only Freak (20:20 Vision/Silver Network/Missive/Freerange) for Jean. They are coming back with the On Stage EP which is a classic and timeless techno project with huge production, solid sound, strong composition and deep but straight to the floor tracks.
