A Nice Feature for GrooveMedia Group's Own Marea and Angel (AKA The Klientele)

Angel Alanis and Marea Stamper (AKA The Klientele) have been working together for quite some time, building the Klientele imprint, which GrooveMedia distributes.
This year they continued the work that Marea started with DJ Pierre for Afro Acid and contributed 2 remixes to Pierre's project, "Da Jungle," which was a collaboration with Lil Louie Vega. One of the remixes even appeared on the vinyl version of this release and how "Da Jungle" is gaining momentum on Beatport, with a main page feature! Congrats gang! Keep rocking! Those of you that caught the Afro Acid jump off in Detroit this year with Lady Foursquare, Angel and DJ Pierre, please let us know what you thought of the show and share your pics and videos.

Where U @? DETROIT!!!

So if you tried to call or email us anytime since last Thursday, you probably got a whole lotta nothing in return. That's because we were having a little GrooveMedia Group gangster party. Now we're back, feet sore and hearts heavy with love for our spiritual homeland. Jesse from MSTRKRFT once compared Chicago to Jerusalem where house was concerned. We'd like to extend that analogy to Detroit and techno. It goes beyond great shows and amazing crowds. It's deeper. Detroit is STILL magic and still very much alive. Don't believe the hype. GIVE THEM YOUR DOLLARS!! Now...is it May 2010 yet???? TICK TOCK!

GrooveSource Cycle 153
Pre-Release Date 5/19/2009
General Release Date 6/8/2009

4TRK020 – Audio Injection “Condensed” 4 Track Records – TECHNO
Coming hot off the heals of Droid Records Analog God remix with Drumcell, Audio Injection has descended upon the LA natives with a big syringe of grossly infected rhythms and low end minimal techno jack hammers. Breeze kicks it off with a warping synth line and morphing clap that eventually begins to speak in a different tongue. The underlying vocal sample comes to life and so does the arrangement as all elements rally to lay a proper one on ya. Condensed is another rumbler that has all the signature sounds and patterns that people will soon begin to associate this LA based producer with. Module brings another overdose of swinging, low end, driving but jacking masterful sounds! All 3 are prime time peak hour destroyers. Just when you thought he couldn't top the last output......

NMB024 – Various Artists “Gloryhunters EP” Noir Music
Noir Music gives you a deephouse ep for the early hours and the hot ipods and who doesn't like a crisp and well produced deephouse tune? We got 4 hotties for you in this package. 2 of them coming from well known producers behind the moniker "Sweaty Fish". The tech-flavoured Gloryhunter and the more organic "Mooshy". Look out for the Sweaty Fish project - more to come in 2009. The other 2 are from talented Aki Bergen Who recently topped the Beatport deephouse chart with his "Afrikanism" and "Historia Mundi" tracks. On this EP he provides us with "Alma De Dios" an irresistible, hypnotic and quite ethnic affair and "In The Groove" which is more housey and higly addictive with the cut-up vocal parts. Lean back and enjoy the ride..... 4 deephouse journeys of pure quality.

OBDIG020 – David E Sugar “Outside Is Scary” Oblio Recordings

He uses 'tracker' software on a Gameboy to create sequences, which he then builds over with other instruments. After being selected to take part in the Desiel U Music tour in the UK, his profile has risen, and he accompanied top ten star Clavin Harris on his UK jaunt in June and July of 2007. David regularly plays to large crowds all across Eaurope, including Germany and Switzerland and now it appears that the rest of the world is catching onto his unique and quirky, but damn fine pop music. The 20th release on Oblio Recordings from David E. Sugar. This one is called Outside Is Scary.

DIFD034 – Yanoexisto “Crudo y Cruel” Difusion Records – TECHNO
Hibernation was the mode that best describes Yanoexisto in the past months very few words where say between occasional online conversations once the death line was approaching all he said was "you would like it I promise" and so I waited and waited until I get the email saying up load has been completed I could not wait so I downloaded the files As soon as I was near a computer whit Internet conection and what a surprise ...I found 4 very interesting tracks that made me wonder about the creation of music and the self expression of a human being . The Fist track called :Mas tiempo(More Time) took me in to an emotional trip and the expectation to something phenomenal due to the large intro complicated electrical patterns that leas to a deep bass line followed by a hard kick it made this track one of my favorite opener Dj set tracks .The second track called Uno mas a la cuenta (One more )Was almost like taking out the old box of mix tapes made by Jeff Mills a very space like track whit lots of high emulated sequences and series of hit hats and kicks it was just like when I went to my first rave wondering How is he doing those noises?.The third track called Dejando todo (Leaving everything)had a very high impact on the way i produce music it showed me that not everything had to be 4 by 4 why ?are all paintings only straight lines or beautiful drawings or landscapes no they are all entirely different every single one just like this track it dares you to define a genre to it is ti techno, Experimental, minimal Im just calling it electronic music that makes me shake out of my sit whit those heavy tones, high bass content and breaks leading to a totally different sequence time after time .The four track Is called Sin lugar para nada ( No place for anything) A voice telling me the history of a phone about some kid ?WTF I think what he is trying to tell m y is This track would make you lose your mind due to his high techno content heavy drums and rhythmical synt leads bass cuts come and go during the entire track high notes emerge form the wite noise sound leading ti the perfect techno track that makes me listen to it more than 5 times Thanks for reading ;The Difusion voice says hi .

Exclusively played during WMC by Dubfire, Eric Prydz, John Digweed and Adam Beyer.
You Tube Link: Soursweet played by John Digweed in Amsterdam

Joel Mull 'Soursweet' finally sees the light of day! - It was actually the very first record signed to Spectrum and was due to be the opening release but due to unforeseen circumstances, the release was delayed.

But it has totally been worth the wait as the final package has already got a few very select DJs, who were lucky enough to receive it, VERY hot under the collar.

NS007 – Rob Threezy “The Change Up” Nightshifters – ELECTRO HOUSE
Nightshifters is proud to present the debut release by Rob Threezy. Hailing from the Southside of Chicago, Rob Threezy is part of a new generation of Chicago producers who are pushing the boundaries of club music, ripping apart borders between Baltimore, Dubstep, Electro and House. Hot off remixing Blaqstarr and Diplo's "Get Off" on Mad Decent and part of the awesome Brick Bandits crew and releases, Threezy's track "The Change Up" showed up on almost every blog and celebrity DJ playlist in 2008. Now it's 2009 and it's Threezy's time to shine!

The Change Up is his first feature release with 4 tracks of House and Bass inspired Bmore and 3 incredible remixes. "Dark Night" is a moody wobbly bass-line Bmore jam, more minimal that expected with a sort of light-rave feeling, while "Jingle Jams" retro drums and house-organs will be comfortable in almost any electro, techno or Bmore set. "You Bad" is already a staple track for many Dj's with a mix of ghetto sirens, gunshots and a frenetic Piano that always gets hands in the air. But it's the revolutionary title track, "The Change Up" which promises to turn heads, mixing indy-rock bass with Rave inspired synths, urban claps and wiggly bass to deliver one of the years most exciting new sounds.

Complimenting Threezy are three awesome remixes. Jokers Of The Scene take a moment out of their busy globetrotting schedule to deliver one of their best remixes ever. They take the Change up and make it a techno-rave prime-time moment with a buildup that's sure to get siren's blasting and sweat pumping. Dj Sega takes us back to Philly on his "You Bad" remix while young Trouble and Bass upstart Mikix The Cat throws some wonky synths around with his remix of "You Bad." Yummy!

KGB017 – Dexter “Waistland EP” KGBeats – TECH HOUSE
Dexter discovered the sound of acid house at some of the notorious acid parties organised around London in the late 80's. Nights such as Mad Cats, Sabre Sonics, the RIP parties in Clink Street; and then later the infamous Wiggle parties, which were to become a major influence in Dexter's sound. Since Dexter's debut release in 2000 he has been proud to be promoted by labels such as Wiggle, Absurd, KG Beats, Beat Code, Eye 4 Sound, and Uhuru Beats, to mention a few. His continually evolving London bred House sound has found favour with both DJ's and the global dance floor alike.

UNION015 – Kel Quadrant “Pork Suit Man EP” Union Recordings – HOUSE
"Ohhhh, honey, what have you done with my meat!!!"

IT'S ALRIGHT; everything is UNDER CONTROL...or is it??? What could possibly go wrong with 4 tracks of MONSTER SOUND??? Union is proud to feature another fresh name with tons of production talent. Who is this lover of meat products? Why are my arms tingling? What happened to the speakers? His name is KEL QUADRANT (not to be confused with Union Veteran, Chris Quadrant!).

When I first heard these tracks I said to myself, "Alright. Here's something I can work with." After hearing these tracks on a premium sound system at peak club time, I knew that it was destined to become Union-certified.

Okay, enough hype, now it's time to tell you what you're in for with this release. My personal favorite of the original tracks has got to be "Steak Slippers." This track is bonkers, not to be missed! The Groove Federation remix is off the hook, like you'd expect. I can't think of a better way to follow up their EP then with another classic remix. The original Pork Suit Man track as well Afro Who are both on par with each other, delivering a huge sound that has peak-hour party potential. DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS RELEASE! We're the underground's best kept secret, put the UH! back in UNDERGROUND with Kel Quadrant, Groove Federation, and Union Recordings: the PORK SUIT MAN EP!

*Receiving support from DJs: Benji Candelario, Davidson Ospina, Q-Burn, Lawnchair Generals, Jazzy Eyewear, Ibiza Global Radio, Kinky Movement, Special Interest, Ibiza Sonica, Jay West, Anthony Molina,

Seek is blowing up!

Seek is a pretty amazing label out of Poland. They went from a tiny imprint to working with Zdar of Cassius this year. Not only do they make great sounding electro, they also work incredibly hard on promotion of their label, as evidenced by the images below. Their most recent release has ads on European ATM machines, coverage in InStyle magazine, advertizements on Smart Cars, reviews in DJMag and much more.

It's pretty amazing, if you ask us.
