Cycle 144 Klientele Features Harvey McKay (Soma/Perc Trax), Noir, David E. Sugar and More!

GrooveSource Cycle 144

Pre-Release Date 3/3/2009
General Release Date 3/24/2009

KLIT005 – Aoo&ooA “Vodka” Klientele – TECHNO
The project Aoo&ooA was created in 2006 by two producers named Andrius Klimka and Igor (aka Oxide). Aoo&ooA is a project that has always tried to diplomatically walk that line between accessible sounds, available to everybody and true underground culture. An impressive list of talent has been enlisted on remix duty to present a wide range of styles.

First up is a super hot remix from Harvey McKay (Soma/Perc Trax). McKay was quickly picked up by Jon Virtue and had his first release on Virtue's Artificial Silence label. Since then he has gone on to release on Perc Trax, Cubism, and now Soma. His influences range between Alex Under, Mark Romboy, James Holden and Soma label-bosses Slam. Ironically enough one of Harvey's first attempts at production was attempting to recreate the sounds he heard on Slam's Alien Radio album, in particular the deep techy bass frequencies.

Rounding out the release is Klientele's own Angel Alanis (Tresor/Klientele/A-squared) returning to form with a jaw dropping rework of the original that invokes shades of DBX classic on Accelerate while remaining absolutely modern.

Following a debut release from Pig & Dan comes an EP from one of the most exciting production duos around. Fresh from their acclaimed E=MB2 album in 2008, Belgian techno legend Marco Bailey and long-term studio partner Tom Hades have crafted two mighty slabs of techno power.

Raw energy and speaker-freaking bass is the order of the day with F16. This is a brutal record for those chaotic peak-time moments when all that is called for is high-octane nastiness. Forged from a few simple but extremely well matched elements, this is high-grade incendiary techno at its best

Break The Glass starts where F16 leaves off. Relentless waves of heavy, droning bass under pinned with military snares and jack-hammer beats make this a secret weapon track that if used in the right way can knock a dance floor off its feet and pin it to the ground until it begs for mercy.

Hej Records welcomes two new artists to the growing techno family, STEVE PARKER (Autist, Attary) and KYLE GEIGER (Drumcode, Droid Recordings). STEVE PARKER's "Crawling" lives up to its name, leading off with a hypnotic, haunting soundscape that builds and grows in depth. Drums pitter patter over the chugging kick as the panning, hissing crawl creeps in over the thick bass creating infectious movement and captivating the listener. KYLE GEIGER's mix takes the atmospheric madness from the original and warps it with cunning effects that stretch and contort the waves. The heavily compressed bass and solid driving percussion continue to take it up notch thumping you like a sonic locomotive. PUNISHER (Detroit)'s rework takes a completely different approach, using only teasers of the samples and manipulating them in entirely new sequences. Tidbits of cascading hiss float in and out, pitch shifting, bending, and constantly changing over the unique staggered beats and chunky sub bass. JOHN OVERFIEND's remix begins with the droning synths while underwater blips echo and ping over the pulsing rhythm. The breakdowns are filled with electrified noise that squelches to a climax before the powerful bass is unleashed each time. This versatile release is like a techno virus that spreads motion through your body on the dancefloor. Hej receives play and support from Adam Beyer, Joel Mull, Laurent Garnier, Alexi Delano, Xpansul, Adultnapper, Par Grindvik, Deetron, Angel Alanis, Tim Xavier, Camea, plus many more filling the gap between minimal and hard techno.

He sets the tone for what to expect from this up and coming LA based dj and producer. For those who know of his re-invent shows and graphic design will easily know that this degree of uniqueness and insight only comes from those who have spent time in and around the many creative facets of the once coined underground movement. Developer, aka Adrian Sandoval, lays on the table a mix of deep and dark dance floor pieces that really begins to paint the picture of where some of his influences stem from but also has enough of his own sabor to truly make a statement of his style and sound. All 6 six tracks throw you on the canvas of some of the most prolific soundscapes this artist has created to date. Need not spend time candy coating these various musical pieces for they are purely intended to garner their own interpretation and praise from the beholder.
