2010 is quickly approaching and along with the start of a new decade, we here at Prosthetic Pressings have been hard at work making new connections to keep the flow of fresh new music coming your way. For the first release in the new year we have a bomb of an EP coming from none other than Hans Bouffmyhre (Sleaze). This young artist didn't start his production career until 2007 and in that short period of time he can already boast releases on many of today's top labels including Perc Trax, Viva Music, Autist, Malatoid, Stolen Moments, Kol Mojito, Bondage Music, Piso Records, Plus Tokyo, Monu Digital and Strike Recordings as well as his very successful Sleaze Records. Also included on this release is a remix from the mighty Heron; owner of Limikola and up and coming artist already receiving support from the likes of DJs like Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin, The Advent, Troy Pierce, Chris Liebing and many more.

This Four-track EP is no exception with thick rhythms and a ton of funked-up flavor. GrooveSource Cycle 185

Pre-Release Date: 12/29/2009
General Release Date: 1/19/2010

SCREC018 – Recon 22 “Crosshairs EP” Solar Cathedral – TECHNO
Solar Cathedral Recordings proudly debuts Minneapolis' Recon 22 by signing the Crosshairs EP for their imprint's 18th release. With a catalog of music that approaches the dance floor from a slew of different angles this American techno label has been keeping its supporter's on their toes by delivering tunes that sound absolutely nothing like anything they've previously released. Since their launch in 2007 SCREC has consistently maintained an unsuspecting formula & this 3 tracker is delivered with the same malicious intent.

"S & M" is a Huntemann'esque burner that's stripped down to the basics rendering itself as the perfect late night/early morning tool laced with sexy vocal stabs & drifting sounds that captivate & hypnotize while "Centipede" turns up the heat with a ripping bass heavy synth line that is guaranteed to set off even the most timid of rooms. "Bad Activity" seems to combine the energy & personality of both "S & M" & "Centipede" with a twist that's palatable for a broad audience of DJ's, producers & listeners from all walks of techno.

MIZ042 – Various Artists “ZumoBeatz: 2009 Review” Mizumo Music – ELECTRO HOUSE
With 40 releases and 100 artists & remixers, 2009 was a strong and comprehensive year for Mizumo Music. This compilation is a selection of both the label's top picks as well as the favorites of the artists, DJs and followers of Mizumo Music for 2009.

DFD021 – e:machinery “Against The World” Design Forms – TECHNO
Against the world is a hybrid of a thought produced by emachinery. It states there are only a few things that matter in this battle; it is you, the dance floor and the dj against the world..... With builds and synth tweaks that are sure to drop jaws ATW takes you on an adventure, you will sure not forget. Remixes by Anthony Steel, Phase and Jonra.

PP018 – Gabriel Boni “Satisfaction” Prosthetic Pressings – TECHNO

At the tender age of 23, Brazilian born Gabriel Boni has been on a meteoric rise since stepping into the deep ocean of electronic music back in 1998. As head of the incredible iNminimax Records and with his skills as a DJ (recently voted one of the top DJs in Brazil) he shows no signs of slowing down. For this 18th release on Prosthetic, Gabriel has provided us with a peak time techno jam he likes to call Satisfaction and while the original can stand on it's own, we've enlisted the aid of two up and coming artists to provide their interpretations. First up is Droid Recording artist and Drumcell cohort Audio Injection who has taken the original, completely deconstructed it and rebuilt a MONSTER of a remix which just may knock some clubs off their foundations. Rounding out the package is Italy's own Tony Vallini whose skills in the production seat are clearly evident when you listen to his mix. This thing takes on a life of its own. Just make sure you have the strength to hold on for the ride.

DJ Support from: Laurent Garnier, Hernan Cattaneo, Noir

GrooveSource Cycle 174

Pre-Release Date: 10/13/2009
General Release Date: 11/3/2009

JEL045 – Ramon Tapia & BP “Water Melon” Jericho – TECHNO
Having cemented his position as one of the producers in 2008, with a string of genre-defining releases on many leading labels, including Great Stuff, Craft Music, Turbo Records and Yellow Tail, Ramon Tapia is hot property. Here Ramon teams up with production partner BP for this release on Jericho. Water Melon is a fine example of the fluid, groove-filled tech house that has won Tapia so many fans. Supplying ample inspiration for both the head and the feet, the haunting melodies that signature the track are partnered by shifting percussion and wobbly, effect-soaked noises to ensure a good melon twisting. Down At The Offkeys steps up the pace and the intensity, but retains the otherworldly vibe of the EP. Throbbing bass pulses under marching beats, while hissing whispers fade in and out of the buzzing synth loops, that usher in rising sirens to take over the breakdown. A high impact crowd-pleaser for dark rooms.

SPEC0907 – Ascion & D. Carbone “Shaved” Spectrum Recordings UK – TECHNO
Spectrum Recordings returns after the summer months with a fantastic deep dark two tracker to take us into those shorter nights of the year from Italian duo Ascion & Davide Carbone. The a side 'Shaved' is a stripped down dubby groover, with eerie vocal stabs and spacey edits. This has a seriously tripped out vibe, which is perfect for the after hours, but still with more then enough punch to work at peak time, with some layered percussion or effects. The flip side 'Spectral Town' is a minimal funky track, superbly produced and once again perfect for the after hours. A very cool and classy record from a label stamping its mark on the scene, and still only in its first year of releasing music. Look out for future releases from Ramon Tapia, Gui Boratto and Alan Fitzpatrick... Big things to come!

DGRS001 – FDK “Under Sol E.P.” DG Label – MINIMAL
The first release for the DG Label Reverse Series features FDK for all of the analogue deep minimal techno prowlers. FDK tunes bring the light and the most out of a rhythm. This "Under Sol EP" provides just the right amount of atmosphere within it's sparse surroundings.

4TRK021 – DJ Hyperactive “Reptilian Tank Revisited” 4 Track Records – TECHNO
The story began on DJ Hyperactive's Chicago based label Contact in 1996. At the time the release only saw the light of day on vinyl but soon thereafter and 10,000 units sold the track that carried the EP, Reptilian Tank, gets it's first re-working on the Uppercut label run by Frankie Vega. The Original Noise Maker release didn't slow down the momentum the single track had and nearly 20 years later we're at it again giving you another pair of remixes from two of the busier techno producers in the US. Audio Injection settles into the smog induced control room and transports back in time and cracks the code of the 101 that did all the heavy lifting on the original and conjures up a different dialect of the original warping, lfo laiden, synth assault reminiscent of the original with a bit more effects and sinister kick. Submerge 101's mix comes out of the gate with a heavy swinging percussion ensemble to quickly turn the corner with a rolling synth line to keep the energy peaking. The arrangement builds on layers of original elements until the ugly beast rears it's head again after a decade of hibernating!

IM039 – Bas Mooy “Like A Virgin EP” Impact Mechanics – TECHNO
Like a Virgin EP from the US-based Impact mechanics label. Bas Mooy kicks things off with chunky beats, glitchy analog stabs and a big, round fat bottom end - just the way we like it! This release brings us the immensely talented Boris Ross, Virgil Enzinger and Impact owner Submerge transplant all these talented artist with there drop dead stunning re-rub of Like a Virgin and you have a hit. You have to love the glitchy, clicky, grinder from this release. Like a Virgin is a collaboration between Dubfire, meets Richie Hawtin. The entry here is a simple, minimal techno bomb, complete with subtle rhythms, heavy bassline and a ton of underlying tension. Quality release that will please the hard and minimal crowds alike, this is an amazing track ready to do work in your peak hour sets.

IRD009 – Tony Dax “Park & Ride EP” Itinerant Records – TECHNO
Fashion's one last cycle of a washing machine, but the classics are always in style. The ninth release for Itinerant Records brings you a uniquely brilliant EP from Tony Dax, the other half of Theory Records in the UK along with Ben Sims. Restrained, refined and melodic - this is techno in a pin-striped suite.

Feedback:

Jim Masters – 4/5

SB003 – Eskimo Twins “Red Triangle EP” Street Beats – ELECTRO HOUSE
We're really excited about this release, and pleased to have Eskimo Twins on board - a talented duo from Leeds who are making some big waves in the scene. When I first heard lead track Red Triangle it instantly reminded me of certain records that got me into dj'ing & dance music in the first place - I can hear elements of classic tracks like Bambaata's Planet Rock, Hashim's Al Naafiysh and Cybotron's Clear...the pioneering electro sound of the 80's, the Street Sounds Era. Red Triangle...a record for breakdancers & nu-wave ravers in equal measures, and we love it.

On the flipside, Insidious grabs you by the throat and gives you a swift kick in the goolies, a heavy-ass rock n rave track (as much as i hate to use that phrase). Eskimo Twins write fantastic hooks & melodies, dark and sometimes off-key & spooky, but it just works. To me this track screams Justice beats with Queens of the Stone Age vocal & melody...praise indeed. Remixes come from another fast-rising electro startlet in the shape of Jo Kira, who takes elements of Red Triangle and turns out a firing tech-houser with phat tribal drums and bags of B.O.U.N.C.E...one for the Space terrace. Insidious gets a right rollocking big-room makeover from Mr Reliable also known as Hostage...someone who has been on our radar and doing good things for several years now...Booom.

Eskimo Twins can be seen playing live up & down the UK and in Ibiza throughout summer. Also look out for further productions on the new Wax:On label and Pieces of Eight Records.
